Alum Producing ABOUT ALEX, starring Aubrey Plaza
Congrats to Professional Program in Producing alum Adam Saunders! His company Footprint Features is co-producing ABOUT ALEX, with Ed Zwick and Marshall Herskovitz on board as exec producers. Jesse Zwick wrote and will direct the ensemble drama, which stars Aubrey Plaza, Jason Ritter, and Maggie Grace.
Alum Dan Mazeau Hired to Write Feature for Tom Cruise
Congrats to UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting alum Dan Mazeau! Warner Bros. has hired Dan to adapt "Yukikaze" into a feature film starring Tom Cruise. WB acquired the rights to the Japanese novel earlier this year.
Alumni Selected for SXSW Festival
Congratulations to UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting alumni Brian King and E.L. Katz! Both of their films were accepted to the 2013 SXSW Festival's Midnight Program. Brian King wrote the screenplay for HAUNTER, starring Abigail Breslin. E.L. Katz directed the feature film CHEAP THRILLS (screenplay by Trent Haaga and David Chirchirillo).
Alumni Honored by Producers Guild of America
Congratulations to UCLA Professional Program in Producing alumni Bobby Grubic, Grace Feeney, and Melissa Goncalves! Their film "Change to Spare" was named one of the top 10 out of 300 entries in the 2012 Producers Guild of America's Debra Hill Weekend Shorts Contest. "Change to Spare" was awarded Honorable Mention at a screening and red carpet ceremony at Hollywood's Sunset Gower Studios.
Arc Entertainment Nabs 'Family Weekend' Comedy

ARC Entertainment has acquired domestic theatrical and home entertainment rights to "Family Weekend," a comedy that stars Kristin Chenoweth, Matthew Modine and Olesya Rulin. Benjamin Epps directed the pic, about an overachieving 16-year-old (Rulin) who takes her parents hostage after they miss her big jump-roping competition -- the latest blow that reveals her folks' lack of support and guidance. Matt K. Turner wrote the script. (Professional Program alum) Adam Saunders and Chris Aronoff produced through their Footprint Features in association with The Bedford Falls Co; Youmi N. Ma executive produced.
Professional Program Alum Sells Horror Script, Will Direct

The independent film, television and digital media company, Enderby Entertainment has inked a deal with Viva Pictures and Uncork'd Entertainment to produce four Tony-Seven Films projects in conjunction with a current horror series to include 15 films for 2013. The first film to be produced from the deal will be Blood Shed, written and created by 2010 Nicholl Fellowships in Screenwriting Competition Quarterfinalist and 2011 UCLA Professional Program in Screenwriting Contest Finalist Patrick Hasson, who will serve as film's director, along with co-director Juan Carlos Saizarbortia.

Professional Program alum Natasha Pincus has been nominated for two MTV Video Music Awards ("Video of the Year" and "Best Editing") for the music video she created for Gotye's "Somebody That I Used to Know." Professional Program Alum to Produce Nicole Kidman Movie

YRF Entertainment CEO (and Professional Program in Producing alum) Uday Chopra has joined with Pierre-Ange Le Pogam and his Stone Angels to produce and finance Grace Of Monaco, the Olivier Dahan-directed film that will star Nicole Kidman. The film begins production in the fall and Inferno is selling foreign rights in Cannes. YRFâ€™s Jonathan Reiman becomes exec producer with Arash Amel, who wrote the script. In the film, the former actress Grace Kelly (Kidman) asserts herself as the Princess of Monaco when she brokers peace between her adopted country and France, maneuvering a political minefield to do it.
